MERRY CHRISTMAS! —–wait—–what!?! The Giving Tree is fast approaching.
We begin in October- every Wednesday afternoon / evening doing intake with people calling for help for the holidays. This is truly an outreach program. We don’t just make a list of things they need. We give them the opportunity to talk about their situation. We talk about their families. We hear about their worries. We laugh with them. We pray with them. We let them know that we care.
We are having a Giving Tree meeting. This outreach has become an enormous program. We need people to do interviews, and to help with various other aspects of this joyful outreach. We have a schedule and sign-ups for decorating the Giving Trees with families’ gift ideas, or helping sort, wrap, and package gifts when we are getting ready to distribute.
We hope to see you at the meeting. Anyone who has worked on the Giving Tree project in any of the past years know of God’s blessing on us and the people we help. Please consider attending to find out how you can help.
¡FELIZ NAVIDAD!…¿iespera… qué!? Se acerca rápidamente la época del programa “Giving Tree” (El Árbol de los Regalos).
Comenzamos en octubre -todos los miércoles por la tarde y noche- atendiendo a las personas que llaman solicitando ayuda para las fiestas. Este es, verdaderamente, un programa de servicio comunitario. No nos limitamos a hacer una lista de lo que necesitan; les brindamos la oportunidad de hablar sobre su situación, conversamos acerca de sus familias, escuchamos sus preocupaciones, reímos y oramos con ellos, y les hacemos saber que nos importan.
Nosotras estamos teniendo una reunión de Giving Tree. Esta iniciativa se ha convertido en un programa enorme. Necesitamos personas para realizar entrevistas y ayudar en diversos aspectos de esta alegre labor. Contamos con un calendario y listas de inscripción para decorar los árboles con las ideas de regalos de las familias, o para ayudar a clasificar, envolver y empaquetar los obsequios
cuando nos preparemos para su distribución.
